CEDARS Program (2002 – 2005)

As of the end of the CEDARS program, 2,795 jobs were created and more than US$29million were generated in private investment and/or leveraged international donor investment in light agro-industry creation, expansion, or relocation. This has expanded economic opportunities in the targeted growth poles, resulting in various impacts, mainly:

· Generated approximately $5,000,000 in local sales from agro-products and services in the targeted industry anchors

· Generated approximately $1,540,000 from exporting 3,505 tons of apples, 1,280 tons of potatoes, 489 tons of onions, 110 tons of grapes, 151 tons of other agricultural produce, and agro-food products to Egypt, Jordan, Syria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Germany, England, France, Dubai, Kuwait, and Tunis

· Accessed 24 Export market outlets in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Germany, England, France, Dubai, Kuwait, and Tunis, in addition to 138 domestic market outlets more...

· Benefited 17,978 people from the implementation of activities under CEDARS Program

· Supported, assisted, and/or sustained 16 coops/ associations/ organizations

· Benefited 12,454 enterprises from the different activities under the CEDARS Program

· Cultivated about 1,000 hectares in the growth poles with forage crops, fruit trees, bananas, vegetables, and other crops

· Trained 1,661 people in improving their skills in anchors within the agribusiness and light agro-industry sector more...
